Pikes Peak — America's Mountain

Standing at 14,115 feet above sea level, Pikes Peak is the most visited mountain in North America and the second most visited in the world. The summit inspired Katharine Lee Bates to write "America the Beautiful" in 1893. Visitors can reach the summit via the Pikes Peak Highway (toll road), the Pikes Peak Cog Railway (the highest cog railway in the United States at 14,115 ft), or by hiking the Barr Trail (13 miles each way). The summit gift shop serves world-famous Pikes Peak donuts that must be eaten above 12,000 feet.
